Now we are nearing summer here in the Uk we as Brits tend to stockpile sun protection. We only seem to associate sun protection with the season ‘summer’. We get little or no sun throughout the other 3 seasons, therefore, no sun, no protection required. How wrong are we? Myself included. I only start wearing a moisturiser with SPF in it around now, April/May. When the weather does heat up I would never dream of sunbathing without protection and definitely not when I’m abroad. Had you asked me 10 years ago I would have said the opposite, I stupidly thought that wearing sun cream would prevent me getting a tan. I wish I was educated better as now my face is paying for it. Now I know the effects of sun damage, I always make sure I use a suncare system that protects me and is enjoyable to use.
I love the brand Malibu. I’ve tried so many over the years but when I discovered this brand, I instantly fell in love. It comes in a range of factors to suit your own skin needs, there are sprays, lotions, after sun and lip care. It smells like coconuts, it’s non-greasy and absorbs into your skin without having to sit rubbing it in for 10 mins. I also love the packaging as its simple and fuss free.
I have been buying the Face Cream SPF30 for a good few years now and I wouldn’t be without it. It smells like ‘holiday’, leaves my skin super soft, it doesn’t clog my pores and being an oil girl, I don’t find this makes my skin greasy. It just leaves my skin with a radiant glow. Even better, it’s £1.50. It contains Vitamin E and Aloe Vera and is photostable and water-resistant. This will be my essential throughout summer, like always.
I prefer lotions to sprays so I use SPF20 in the UK, but start with an SPF50 when abroad then drop down to an SPF20. The body lotions also contain Vitamin E and Aloe Vera, are photostable and water-resistant as well. I love the gorgeous glow these lotions give my skin.
When I’ve had a few days to get my skin used to the sun, I switch to the Bronzing Tanning Oil, just to give me an extra tan. This one contains SPF15 and Coconut Oil which is amazing for the skin. I swear by coconut oil!
After a day of soaking up the sun, I love to put some hydration back into my skin, so I use the Aloe Vera Moisturising Sun Gel. It’s cooling and soothing so if you have caught the sun a little too much in areas, pop this on and it well help cool the skin. Gels absorb into the skin better so it will work quicker and keep your skin hydrated.
A lot of people forget about their lips when the sun is out or on holiday. I personally can’t leave the house without some sort of lip product! I throw this Lipbalm with SPF30 in my beach bag. It smells so good and stops my lips burning and getting chapped. It’s non-greasy and not sticky, so your hair and sand won’t get stuck to your lips. It comes in a variety of flavours, this one is Tropical, last year I had watermelon and it was delicious!! This one I got free with the Face Cream, but you can pick them up for £1.
This whole selection of Sun protection cost me just £13 – What a bargain!
