So as some of you already know, I took the plunge and finally recorded my first YouTube/Social Media Makeup video. I’ve been wanting to do it for such a long time, but because one thing and another, I just haven’t. I think it was more to do with whether or not anybody would actually like it, or even ‘watch’ it. I mean once it’s out there, it’s out there. I guess I just knew when the time would be right. It came a few days after my favourite YouTuber posted a video about ‘her’ first ever YouTube video and saying how nervous she was and that she now cringes looking back at herself. Saying how clueless she was but just hoped for the best. It was so nice to hear that she keeps it on her page just to remind herself where she started and how far she’s come. Although not directly aimed at me, It was the encouragement that I needed. Like she said, she wished someone would have done the same for her and that’s what prompted her to make the ‘look back’ video. It just felt like a ‘sign’.
I guess you feel a bit silly talking to a camera lens, when no one is actually there! I think being organised and having some idea of what products, tools and brushes you need in front of you, ‘and’ in some sort of order helped me. I didn’t know how it would turn out but it just seemed to flow. I forgot to use some the products that I’d usually use (but only I knew that!)
I’m glad I’ve finally done it though and the second one won’t be as daunting. My editing wasn’t too bad, but I should have used more tools! (I was eager to post it!) It’s quite amateur, but I’ve got a lot to learn and I’m sure over time I’ll maybe look back and cringe too! But for now, I’m really excited for the road ahead.
