October Favourites

October Favourites

Hello Hello!

Here we are again, another selection of things I’ve been loving last month. It was so easy to choose October’s monthly favourites, it really didn’t take much thinking about. So let’s get started with the first item.

Fenty Beauty Killawatt highlighter in Mean Money

I love highlighters and I admit that I have way too many, but this one has been my go-to this month. It’s not a ‘bam!’ here I am sort of a highlighter, it’s subtle but it almost melts into the skin giving such a flawless finish. It’s so finely milled and buttery without big chunks of glitter. I do love the other highlighter in the duo which is Hustla Baby, but it just doesn’t give that glow from within look. I’ve already hit pan on Mean Money and I cant say I’ve hit pan on any of my others. I would definitely repurchase once it’s gone!

Wet Brush Pro

For as long as I can remember I’ve been using the Tangle Teaser, but as my hair is growing longer and longer, the knots seem to be getting more and more. Brushing my hair with conditioner in is a chore, a massive chore that takes a good 6-7 minutes to brush through. I feel also that the tangle teaser just can’t manage my thick hair and just glides over it rather than through it.  I’d heard of the Wet Brush but thought it was probably just a gimmick that was probably no better than the tangle teaser. Oh, how wrong was I?! I ordered the one for thick hair.  Brushing my hair has never been so easy; Knots, what knots? So if you have thick unruly hair, this brush will do you wonders.

Chanel Chance Tendre

I haven’t reached for this fragrance in a while, but I put on a top that I’d previously sprayed it on and fell in love all over again. Its fresh and fruity and has that feel of luxury to it.

L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay

I’m not a huge fan of dry shampoo, If my hair feels greasy, I’d rather just was it tbh, so I don’t use it a lot. A can will last me months. Most dry shampoos make my hair white which really isn’t a great look for black hair. It’s most likely why I avoid them. However I saw a can of this L’Oreal Elive Clay dry shampoo and liked the idea of the clay, I don’t know why It just appealed to me.  Honestly, it is so so good! No white residue, no matter how excessive you spray it, it disappears and volumises your hair. Most shampoos make my hair look more greasy if anything. I love this one and will be sticking to it. It smells nice and actually does what its meant to.

Nyx Liquid Suede in Sandstorm

NYX do some of the best lip products I’ve used and they continue to up their game. I had wanted this shade for so long but it was out of stock for what seemed like forever, both in-store and online. Eventually, I managed to find one mixed in with other shades in-store. I was literally so excited! It’s a cool-toned grey-brown. I recently wrote a post on my top favourite liquid lipsticks and this was one of them. You can see what it looks like on HERE.

Thanks for reading my October Favourites and have a great month

Top 5 Mac Lipsticks For Autumn/Winter

Top 5  Mac Lipsticks For Autumn/Winter

I recently did a ‘Liquid Lipstick Favourites‘, but as I know many people don’t like liquid lipsticks I wanted to do a top 5 ‘regular’ lipstick post. I’m not overly adventurous when it comes to different brands of lipstick, I do tend to stick to Mac lippies. I just love their formula and as I’ve started a collection, I like to add to it. Anyways, let’s get started…

First up is my newest Mac lipstick and that is:

I went into Mac looking for a really Autumnal shade and this is what I decided on. My Favourite lipstick formulas are mattes and satins but this is an amplified formula which had the intensity of a matte but a shiny finish. I don’t love the finish so I tend to use a translucent powder to matte it down. I’d describe this shade as a deep wine, burgundy. On the website, they describe it as a deepened claret. I’ve been really lusting after shades like this lately.

I don’t own any other shade like this, and to be honest, I wasn’t too sure I’d be able to pull it off. But with the right makeup, it looks amazing. Personally, I think a simple eye with a sharp wing looks best. I think the lipstick talks for itself.  It’s a muted greyish taupe brown and is a matte finish.

This was my first ‘colourful’ lipstick when I wanted to step away from the nudes, or as I like to call them, ‘safe’ colours. It’s a pinkish-plum, it’s a lot deeper and eye-catching than any of my other pinky toned lipstick. It’s a satin finish which is my favourite finish; Satins just seem to plump my lips and make them look poutier. This is my most go-to Winter shade. It works with everything and really compliments my skin tone.

Russian Red

What other shade to wear around Christmas than a bright red?! It was a fight between this and Ruby Woo, but Russian Red just won as its slightly brighter. It’s an intense red with blue undertones so it makes your teeth look bright white. The matte formula has staying power so you won’t need to keep retouching your lips. I also find with this lipstick that you don’t get a huge amount of transfer either -bonus!

This is the most subtle of the 5. It’s described as a dirty blue pink. and is so wearable if you want something a little deeper, but still quite nude.

Let me know if there are any Mac lipsticks you’d recommend for Winter.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow. Does It Really Work?

Maybelline Tattoo Brow

Maybelline has recently brought out this new ‘Easy peel off tint’ called Brow Tattoo. I immediately thought, what an amazing idea! Available in 3 shades in the UK, light brown, medium brown and dark brown. I believe it is available in an extra shade called grey-brown, but not here in the UK. I searched everywhere for dark brown but I could only get my hands on medium brown, so that’s what I rolled with.  Now if you’re someone like me who has dark hair, well black hair but about 10 brow hairs, you probably need a little help in the brow department. Listen, I wouldn’t leave the house without my brow done unless I’d freshly tinted them; I look expressionless without brows, not to mention, kind of odd.

Now if you’re someone like me who has dark hair, well black hair but about 10 brow hairs, you probably need a little help in the brow department. Listen, I wouldn’t leave the house without my brow done unless I’d freshly tinted them; I look expressionless without brows, not to mention, kind of odd.

I was keen to try this product, but after seeing another girl on Youtube try the medium brown and her brows turn red, I started to worry, thinking that I’d need the dark brown. But I decided to try it, it fades in 3 days so it will be fine.

The Application

The packaging reminds me of lash glue, and the formula isn’t too dissimilar, But it’s easy enough to apply. I put a small amount of the product with the applicator in the middle of my brow then used an angled brush to disperse the product and shape my brown like I would if I was applying something like a pomade, you can always build up the product. I used a tiny amount at the front of my brow as I prefer an ombre effect brow, rather than a harsh block brow. After about 20 minutes you peel off the dried PVA-like glue (remember from school) starting from the inner brow and it comes off so easily; Kind of satisfying too.

My brows were brown, with a slight red undertone which wasn’t terrible, but I definitely need to try the dark brown. I decided to do the application again to see if I would get them even darker, they did go slightly darker, but nothing too obvious.

Would I repurchase this product? Hell yes!!! (but in the correct shade, because I was just too eager to try it) I will still do my brows when I go out, but when I have no makeup days, I will feel a whole lot better and confident seeing my reflection with brows on my face.  It makes a HUGE difference. I’ve often considered microblading, but if this is the next best thing, then I’ll take it.  It’s so much quicker and less messy than a tinting kit.

This is a brilliant product for those of us who have light, sparse or no brows. You can chuck in your makeup bag and do your brows just before you go out. They may need to add in some more shades which would be good, but for now, Maybelline, you’ve done well!

I found mine at Superdrug, but it’s also available at Boots. I’ve put a link for you if you want to go try it for yourself.

Let me know if it works for you?

Indulge Me Beauty Box

Indulge Me Beauty Box- Look Fantastic

Yay, It’s Octobers Indulge Me Beauty Box from Look Fantastic! It arrived on my doorstep a few days ago and I really wasn’t expecting it at it’s only been 2 weeks since the last one. I was so late in ordering the box that I decided not to publish the post on Septembers box.

I am excited about this box. Firstly, do you get a copy every month? Having Elle magazine itself just makes me love this box! It’s handbag size too, another bonus!

You get the little booklet each month with the products description, then a few pages of tips, tricks, other products. Wrapped up in a pretty pink paper this month are 6 items. First up is:

Bean Body- Coffee Bean Scrub

I’ve been wanting to try a scrub like this for ages, but forget to actually get round to ordering one. It’s a coffee bean, vitamin e, coconut oil and sea salt scrub. It’s cruelty and paraben free and also vegan-friendly. Coffee is great for the skin and draws out toxins and coconut oil helps to lock in moisture. I will probably use this tonight whilst I have a pamper session!

Monu Skin- Firming Fiji Facial Oil

Another exciting product. I love using oils on my skin before bed, I find they work the best at this time. My skin drinks it up leaving my skin hydrated and silky smooth in the morning with zero shine. This oil contains Bois de Rose and Patchouli Essential oils which will help calm the skin, pamper pores and stimulate complexion.

Skimono Hand Mask

I’ve never used a hand mask before, so this is something new to me. This mask is inspired by Asian beauty trends and is made to intensely nourish hard working hands. It contains a revitalising serum enriched with shea butter, aloe vera and hyaluronic acid. You leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes before removing and rubbing in the remaining serum into your hands. No need to rinse.

Model Co Instant Radiance Concealer

This is an illuminating concealer that leaves skin looking brighter and more radiant, whilst concealing imperfections. This product is exclusive to the beauty box so you won’t find it anywhere else. It has a brush tip which you twist the end to release the cream. I’m not sure if these come in different shade amongst boxes but this looks a pretty good match for my skin tone.

Lancer The Method: Polish

This exfoliating facial treatment is Victoria Beckhams go-to product. It says it will ‘resurface your skin and even out its tone’. Using pure minerals, pumpkin and pomegranate enzymes, it will scrub away dead skin cells to leave you smooth, renewed and glowing. Well, I’m definitely excited to give this a go!

Ciaté Wonderwand Mascara

‘An intensely volumising and lengthening mascara that will create some fearless lashes’. Yes please! Who doesn’t want that?! This is in the shade Black Magic and it’s a cute little handbag size, perfect for your makeup bag or to take on a night out.

I did like last months box, but this box is spot on. I will use everything from this box and I’m excited to do so.

What do you think of Octobers box?

*This post is not sponsored. My friend bought me a 3-month subscription of Look Fantastic Beauty Boxes for my birthday. I wanted to share my thoughts on them.

September Favourites

Things I’ve Been Loving This Month

Too Faced Hangover Primer

I used to only use this occasionally as it’s quite pricey, £29 to be exact for 38g, but after having it for a while, I decided I probably need to use it before it expires and have to throw it away. It doubles up as a moisturiser and a primer. The coconut water in it really hydrates your skin leaving it looking radiant and well moisturised. I’ve definitely noticed a huge difference in the texture of my skin since using it every day. Also when I thought I’d come to the end of the tube, I still managed to squeeze out another two weeks worth. You literally need a pea-sized amount and that is plenty.

L’Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Cream

I bought the range of the Fine Flowers collection a few months ago and I’ve been really impressed with it. So much so that I stocked up on it. My favourite is the Cleansing Cream which you rub over your makeup, no need to wet your face or anything first, then massage it in to break up the makeup. I use it on my eyes to remove my mascara and I have zero irritation. It removes my mascara like an absolute dream. I take two large cotton pad and wipe away. My skin feels so clean and fresh with no traces of eye makeup. It’s mess free which I love. Did I mention the fragrance?! It’s very light but gorgeous. I follow by the toner which is a massive bottle and I’m not even a third of a way through! You can check out my post about the range HERE

Missguided Studded Grey Boots

I saw Blogger/YouTuber Naomi Victoria wearing these and it was instant love! I love grey boots. The studs on these gave them the perfect edge and I love the denim material. The chunky heel makes them so comfy to wear and are the perfect winter boot to wear with both dresses and jeans. How beautiful are they?!

Topshop Jamie Skinny Ripped Jeans

These are quite a new addition to my wardrobe. I’ve dropped a size so a lot of my jeans aren’t so skinny anymore. I love Topshop jeans, the quality, style and most importantly, length. I’m 5’11” so having the option of 34” and 36” leg is great for us tall girls. Long lengths really are limited when buying jeans and trousers. A few other places like River Island, Asos and Missguided offer a tall range but I know with Topshop, I get what I pay for, great quality! I don’t think I’ve ever worn out a pair of jeans from Topshop. Although these may be a first because I want to wear them all the time!

Stormzy Album – Gang Signs & Prayer

This album is all I’ve been playing in my car atm. Some albums I listen to just a few songs then skip to the best ones; not with this one, I love every track. I’ve been a Stormzy fan from day one and he’s actually from Thornton Heath, which was my first address when I move to South London. My favourite track from the album is track 10- Blinded by your grace Part 2 (Feat. Mnek) It’s such a beautiful song.

Costa Soya Latte with Sugar-Free Caramel

I’m not dairy intolerant or anything, but I do choose to drink coconut, almond and soya milk just out of preference. I always have soya milk when I drink from Costa or Starbucks, I find it so much richer than dairy. It’s only been recently that I tried sugar-free caramel and It’s sooooo good. I don’t take sugar in the hot drinks so this sugar-free alternative is perfect and I really don’t know why I didn’t try it sooner! Saying that I do love this time of year when the Pumpkin Spice comes out and then all the Christmas drinks. I’m pretty excited about them tbh!

Have a wonderful October and I’ll see you the same time next month …Or perhaps a little earlier!

Top 5 Favourite Liquid Lipsticks For Autumn/Winter

Top 5 Favourite Liquid Lipsticks For Autumn/Winter

Now that Autumn is here, I love switching my lip colour from my usual pastel nudes to the darker deeper and richer shades. I definitely think a dark lip suits me better; It also makes my lips look fuller, which I love.  When it comes to a dark lip I feel safer with a liquid lipstick as I know it won’t end up all over my face and teeth, as they dry down. During the cooler months, it’s important to prep your lips so they don’t crack and dry out. A good lip scrub will give a perfect application, followed by a lip conditioner before applying the liquid colour.

These are my top five favourites:

Kat Von D Lolita

It’s a creamy formula which glides over lips like a gloss and sets to a true matte finish. I love this lipstick because It doesn’t crack on my lips or make my lips feel tight. It’s so comfortable and the colour is absolutely gorgeous. It sats on even after eating and drinking, with little need for touch-ups. I seem to be reaching for this one the most.

Barry M Matte Me Up in Embellish

It’s a non-drying, ultra-long wearing formula is easy to apply. It’s a very similar formula to the Kat Von D lipstick. This is a beautiful purple shade which offers the perfect pop of colour. It’s comfortable on the lips and long wearing. You need to put on two coats to get an even colour, but that’s a minor for such a beautiful lipstick.

NYX Soft Matte Cream in Copenhagen

This is described as a deep plum, but I’d say it was more Raspberry. The formula is creamy on the lips and is a more of a satin finish and doesn’t dry completely matte. I find the NYX soft mattes really comfortable and I’ve not had any problems with transfer even though they don’t dry down. The colour in the tube isn’t the same as the packaging, so if you think you are buying a dark lip colour, then this is the actual shade inside.

Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pumpkin

I fell in love with this shade last year and was my go-to lip shade. I’ve never seen a shade like it; It’s a dirty mid-tone orange. It comes with a lip pencil as its part of a kit, but I don’t always use the pencil. The lipstick is comfortable and feels hydrating to wear. It definitely works better with a tan as it can wash me out when I’m paler.

NYX Liquid Suede in Sandstorm

I had wanted this shade for the longest time but it was sold out for what seemed to be forever.  Every time I went to the NYX counter is was the only shade to be unavailable. It applies very similarly to the soft matte creams but it dries to a velvet finish. I love it because it’s a cool toned colour which works perfectly with the Winter months.

What are your favourite liquid lipsticks for Autumn/Winter?

I know some people aren’t so keen on liquid lipsticks, so I’ll also do a top 5 favourite regular lipsticks for Autumn/Winter as well. So keep a look out for the post.

The Perfect Winter Boot

It’s all about the print…

Autumn/Winter is fast approaching; actually, it feels like it’s been here for a while, but hey, let’s embrace it! It’s time to wrap up warm, which also means, It’s time to find the perfect boot. I’ve literally been on the search for a pair of Leopard Print Chelsea boots for a few years now, but none have jumped out at me, that is, until now.

I love a flat boot on days where I’m running around with lots to do and don’t want to worry about my feet being unhappy. These leather pony-hair boots are absolutely gorgeous. The colour is perfect and the studded detail around the rim of the sole gives the boots a nice finishing touch. They are super easy to pull on and go with a ton of outfits;

I want these boots to be durable in the rain; It rains too much in the UK, so good protector will help to prolong the wear.

I’ll probably wear them mostly with my Topshop Joni jeans or a warm pair of leggings, a tee and my black leather jacket,  then on cooler days, I’ll throw on a chunky knit jumper, scarf and beanie hat. I think a bright jacket would work really well with these as well and also they would look cute with a dress and knitted tights.

Shop them at River Island for £65 HERE

Look out for upcoming outfit posts that I am going to be introducing to my blog.

Jo Malone

I was walking through Duty-Free and in front of me was a huge Jo Malone display with all the perfumes for you to sample.  So I went over and tried every single one; like you do! I wasn’t alone, there were a few other ladies looking to finding their perfect scent too. I  found 3 that I loved. After spraying every spare part of my arms, I decided to walk around and to let them settle on my skin so I could see which scent I liked most. It didn’t take me that long to decide. I already have a strong love for anything with Bergamont in, so I went back and bought Oud and Bergamot from the cologne intense range.

It has top notes of Bergamot with base notes of Cedarwood and Oud Wood. I love the combination of citrus and wood; I’m always drawn to more fruity and woody scents.

I think this is a lovely fragrance for all seasons and for both day or night. It’s so unique and like no other perfume I own. It makes me feel amazing when I wear it as it so luxurious and special, and a little mysterious.

You only need the lightest of sprays as a little goes a long way. Some reviews I’ve read say the longevity is poor, but I personally find it lasts all day on me and is definitely one I will be repurchasing. I just hope I don’t run out too soon! I’m trying not to wear it every day, but as I love it so much it’s so hard to resist.

The website describes this scent as:

‘Precious oud, reframed. The mysterious, smoky character of this revered wood, central to Middle Eastern fragrance traditions, radiates with the clarity of crisp bergamot and an orange granite accord. Hypnotic. Alluring.’

I’d love to try the dry oil, and the candle would be a perfect addition to the home. So they are on my wish list.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Masks

Garnier Super Hydrating Moisture Bomb Tissue Masks

I’ve never tried a tissue mask until I saw these and as a beauty fanatic, I really wanted to try them. My local store had them on offer so I grabbed one each of the different types.

First time I tried it, Yeh, I didn’t read the instructions and left the blue bit that you’re meant to take off, well, on. Then I wondered why it wasn’t sticking to my face very well, so once I’d peeled that outer blue layer off I managed to mold it to my face better!

The sheet has a gel-like covering and any excess gel I use on my neck, as there is quite a bit left in the packet. It’s really soothing on the skin and super comfortable to wear. I didn’t have to keep adjusting it, nor did it slide or peel off my face. I just sat back in my hot bubble bath and relaxed whilst the mask did its magic.

So the part you actually want to know… Did it actually make any difference? Well yes, It left my skin so soft and almost squeaky clean. I had no tightness, breakouts or irritation after using them.  Would I rebuy them? Yes, I would. I find some masks draw out the moisture from your skin, whereas these do the opposite. I love the feel of my skin after and my skin felt hydrated until the next day when I applied my daily moisturiser; and of course, they are fun to use.

They come in a few different  varieties for different skin needs:

Glow Revealing

I personally wanted to try them all. I wouldn’t say there is a huge difference between them, I guess it’s just personal preference.

Let me know in the comments what you think of these masks.

Iconic London Illuminator Drops

I first discovered this illuminator whilst watching a Youtuber, It looked so beautiful on her skin; it gave such a gorgeous finish which gave the skin a non-powdery look. Having slightly more mature skin, applying too many powders can start looking cakey on me and emphasize fine lines and pores. With this liquid illuminator, you still see skin, minus imperfections but gives you an out of this world glow. I literally love this illuminator so much, It’s like nothing else.

After I’ve finished my makeup but before my setting spray, I put a few drops of the original shade onto the back of my hand and dab my Beautyblender into it before bouncing the product onto the high points of my cheeks, around my temples and above my brows. I’ll then take any leftover product down the bridge of my nose and on my cupids bow. It takes hardly any blending and catches the light as you move.  You don’t need a lot of it as it’s highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. I also sometimes mix a small amount in with my foundation if my skin is looking a little dehydrated and flat.

Iconic London recently came out with two other shades, Shine and Glow. Shine would suit fair skin tones and Glow for darker. Although it down to personal preference.

I recently bought ‘Glow’ to mix in with coconut oil for when I went on holiday, to give my skin an extra something in the evenings. Coconut oil alone gives your skin life, but adding these drops just makes your skin look a whole other level of ‘wow’. I knew they would look amazing with a tan, but not only did my skin look flawless, I looked like I’d been dipped in a bronze puddle of gorgeousness, It made my legs like the ones you see in Vogue that are perfect and go on for miles. My body glowed like nothing I’ve used before and I felt really good.

These drops are £29.99 but they do last a long time. You can get them HERE
